Jackie Cook / Song Cellar
Jackie Cook started singing and playing guitar in bands in Dyersburg Tennessee during rock & roll’s infancy. By the age of 14 he and his band had performed with the legendary Carl Perkins and Charlie Rich. In Memphis at TMI Studios he had the chance to write, record with and also learn from the legendary Steve Cropper, R&B songwriter (Dock Of The Bay, Midnight Hour, Hold On I’m Coming), guitarist (Booker T and the MGs) and producer (Jeff Beck, Poco, Tower Of Power). At TMI Jackie also had the opportunity to write with another legendary songwriter Mac Rice (Mustang Sally).
Jackie was an artist on Bell Records and in the pop/rock group Caboose with a #1 hit on Stax/Enterprise Records.
When Jackie decided to move to Nashville he joined one of the all time great legends Roy Orbison. After touring the world, and with family beckoning, he opened the Song Cellar in the basement of Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI).
He began putting tracks together for songwriters, singers and publishers. With his rock, pop and R&B influences, Jackie has been on the cutting edge of the new emerging country sound ever since. He has been involved in the production of over 6,000 songs. Some have won Grammys, others have made it to #1. Many of the singers and writers he has had the opportunity to work with have gone on to become Superstars or Songwriters of the Year. Garth Brooks, Suzie Boggus, T. Graham Brown, James Bonamy, Linda Davis, Billy Dean, Joe Diffie, Dobie Grey, Faith Hill, Buddy Jewell, Delbert McClinton, Michael McDonald, Ronnie McDowell, Craig Morgan, members of Alabama and Diamond Rio, Pam Tillis, Le Ann Womack, Daryl Worley, and Trisha Yearwood have graced the Song Cellar with their voices.
